Hillside Senior Living will bring 164 units of much-needed affordable senior housing to the Inwood neighborhood of Upper Manhattan. The new ground-up U-shaped development is carved into a steeply sloping site and draws much of its inspiration from seasonal changes experienced in the dramatic Fort Tryon Park nearby.....

We like to really get to know our clients, and in this case, become lifelong friends after the project. AiF was retained to reconsider a 1970’s “ranch-burger” with a quirky and delightful owners’ wing designed by Andrew Geller in the early 1980’s, all set into a glorious 3 acre landscape.....

Our overall design approach to the restoration of this landmarked rowhouse is “rigorously eclectic”. Much of the original stone and woodwork was maintained and restored, and overall detail was edited, abstracted, reduced, clarified. The parlor floor was opened up to create a singular grand salon. Woodwork was refinished and extended, and painted a cool grey to recede, so that it’s not immediately clear what’s old and what’s new.
